Progression Between Grades Or Between Steps Within The Same Grade

Following the completion of a specific duration of service in at least an acceptable way, permanent workers below the tenth level of their grade are often qualified for increments of step. In the typical progression that lasts the duration of 52 weeks (one year) are elapsed between steps 1-2, 2-3, and 3-4. Then, the 104-week period (two years) occur between steps 4-5, 5-6, and 6-7. Lastly after that, an average of 156 weeks (three years) elapse between the steps of 7-8, 8-9 and 9-10, until the ultimate stage is reached at step 10. A “quality step increase” (“QSI”), on contrary, could be awarded to an employee in appreciation of their outstanding job performance. A QSI increases the employee by one step within-grade, regardless of the time they have spent at the prior step. If an QSI is granted that date, the QSI is the date that will be used as the starting point for the next step increase and (if subsequent step increases are given in accordance with the regular process) will reduce the amount of time needed to allow an employee to reach the ultimate step in the grade.
