Progression Between Grades Or Between Steps Within The Same Grade

When they have completed a specified time frame at a minimum in a satisfactory way, permanent workers that are not at the tenth stage of their class are usually qualified for increments of step. In a typical progression that lasts two years and 52 months (one year) pass between steps 1-2, 2-3, and 3-4. Then an additional 104 weeks (two years) are elapsed between the steps of 4-5, 5-6 and 6-7. Then, an average of 156 weeks (three years) occur between steps 7-8, 8-9 and 9-10, until the ultimate step is reached at step 10. The term “quality step increase” (“QSI”) can, on the other hand, maybe offered to employees in the recognition of outstanding performance in their job. A QSI advances the employee one step up within the grade, regardless of the amount of time they’ve spent at the previous step. Assuming the grant of a QSI is granted then the date of the QSI is then the date of the beginning for the subsequent step increase that (if further step increases are granted according to the normal procedure) will reduce the amount of time needed to allow an employee to achieve the final step within the grade.
