Progression Between Grades Or Between Steps Within The Same Grade

Following the completion of a specific duration of service at a minimum in a satisfactory way, permanent workers below the tenth stage of their level are usually eligible for step increments. In a typical progression, the duration of 52 weeks (one year) pass between steps 1-2, 2-3 and 3-4. Then, 104 weeks (two years) are elapsed between the steps of 4-5, 5-6 and 6-7. Finally, the 156 weeks (three years) elapse between the steps of 8-9, 7-8 and 9-10, till the last step is completed at the 10th step. The term “quality step increase” (“QSI”) can, on contrary, could be granted to an employee as the recognition of outstanding performance in their job. A QSI elevates the employee one step up within the grade, regardless of of time they’ve spent at the previous step. If an QSI is granted then the date of the QSI is then the date of the beginning for the next step increase that (if further step increases are granted according to the regular process) will cut down the amount of time needed to allow an employee to reach the last step within a grade.
