Progression Between Grades Or Between Steps Within The Same Grade

After having completed a certain time period with at least a decent manner, permanent workers who are below the tenth step of their grade are often qualified for increments of step. In a typical progression that lasts two years and 52 months (one year) are elapsed between the steps of 1-2, 2-3 and 3-4. Then, an additional 104 weeks (two years) elapse between the steps of 5-6, 4-5 and 6-7. Finally at 156 weeks (three years) pass between the steps of 8-9, 7-8 and 9-10, until the ultimate stage is reached at step 10. The term “quality step increase” (“QSI”) can, on the other hand, maybe granted to an employee as celebration of their exceptional performance at work. A QSI increases the employee by one step within-grade, regardless of of time they have spent at the prior step. Assuming an QSI is granted then the date of the QSI becomes the beginning date of the next step increment that (if subsequent step increases are granted as per the regular procedure) will reduce the amount of time needed to allow an employee to reach the final step within a grade.
