As an example, an employee is able to move from General Schedule 5 to the General Schedule 7 and then to the General Schedule 9, and lastly, to the General Schedule 11 without passing through grades 6, 8 and 10.

Progression Between Grades Or Between Steps Within The Same Grade

After having completed a certain time period in at least an acceptable way, permanent workers below the tenth stage of their grade are often eligible for increments of step.
