Progression Between Grades Or Between Steps Within The Same Grade

Following the completion of a specific duration of service at a minimum in a satisfactory manner, permanent workers who are below the tenth step of their classification are typically eligible for step increments. In the typical progression of two years and 52 months (one year) pass between steps 1-2, 2-3 and 3-4. After that, 104 weeks (two years) pass between the steps of 5-6, 4-5 and 6-7. Lastly at the 156 weeks (three years) are elapsed between steps 7-8, 8-9, and 9-10 until the highest level is reached in step 10. The term “quality step increase” (“QSI”) is, on contrary, might be offered to employees in the recognition of outstanding performance in their job. A QSI raises the employee one level within-grade regardless of the amount of time spent at the prior step. If an QSI is granted and the date of the QSI is the date that will be used as the starting point for the next step increase that (if subsequent step increases are granted according to the normal procedure) will cut down the time it takes for employees to be able to take the ultimate step in the grade.
