Progression Between Grades Or Between Steps Within The Same Grade

After having completed a certain time period in at least an acceptable manner, permanent workers who are below the tenth step of their level are usually qualified for increments of step. In a typical progression of two years and 52 months (one year) are elapsed between steps 1-2, 2-3, and 3-4. After that, an additional 104 weeks (two years) pass between the steps of 5-6, 4-5 and 6-7. Lastly at 156 weeks (three years) are elapsed between the steps of 7-8, 8-9 and 9-10, till the last step is reached at step 10. A “quality step increase” (“QSI”) can, on contrary, could be offered to employees in recognition of exceptional job performance. A QSI raises the employee one step within-grade, regardless of the amount of time spent at the prior step. If the grant of a QSI is granted then the date of the QSI is then the date of the beginning for the following step increase in which case (if further step increases are granted as per the normal procedure) will cut down the amount of time needed for employees to be able to take the final step within a grade.
