When they have completed a specified duration of service in a minimum acceptable way, permanent workers below the tenth step in their level are usually eligible for increments in step. In the typical progression that lasts the duration of 52 weeks (one year) pass between steps 1-2, 2-3 and 3-4. Then, 104 weeks (two years) elapse between steps 4-5, 5-6, and 6-7. Then the final 156 weeks (three years) are elapsed between the steps of 8-9, 7-8 and 9-10, until the ultimate step is completed at the step number 10.
